There was a gentle rumbling and slight shaking of the dashboard.
Fandoms of new, turned quickly about to stare, startled by the sight in front of them.
THE STAR TREK AND LOTR FANDOMS HAVE AWAKEN FROM THEIR SLUMBERS, ARISING TO RETAKE THEIR RIGHTFUL THRONES.
Meanwhile, the Classic Who, the last of the Three Great Fandoms, lies in wait
For the 50th Anniversary is approaching
The Old Ones are awakening.
This has been in my drafts since I saw it on Dec 18,2012. I know I’m posting it late, but oh well. The 50th Anniversary is almost upon us, and I want to post this. So there.
You have my sword.
And you have my bow.
And my axe.
Hey! Hey hey. Look. Lookit. See?
That’s where I get my queue tag. :D
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
I think it’s kind of funny how people are obsessed with dwarves now, when its really only because of Richard, Dean, and Aidan. It especially makes me mad when I see people forget that forget Gimli because he wasn’t “attractive”. His role in the Fellowship was incredibly important.
gimli is attractive tho
I completely agree. Don’t get me wrong, I love eye candy, and I think the actors did a great job. But I was and am disappointed that the Dwarves were prettied-up for The Hobbit. The look of Dwarves was established in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and I would have liked PJ to maintain that look, especially for those Dwarves in The Company (particularly the large noses).
Also, I agree that John Rhys-Davies’ Gimli was and is attractive. And my heart really goes out to him because he reacted so badly to the make up and prosthetics and was so miserable during the entire shoot because of his severe skin reactions. Like, if PJ and the make up team had used the Dwarven look for Gimli that they’re using for Fili or Kili or Thorin, John Rhys-Davies wouldn’t have had to endure as much physical and emotional pain because much less drastic prosthetics would have been used. It just makes me sad. :(

don’t the great tales never end?
"Beren now, he never thought he was going to get that Silmaril from the Iron Crown in Thangorodrim, and yet he did, and that was a worse place and blacker danger than ours. But that’s a long tale, of course, and goes on past the happiness into grief and beyond it - and the Silmaril went on and came to Eärendil. And why, sir, I never thought of that before! We’ve got - you’ve got some of the light of it in that star-glass that the Lady gave you! Why to think of it, we’re in the same tale still! It’s going on. Don’t the great tales ever end?” - Sam Gamgee; The Two Towers, The Stairs of Cirith Ungol
