“Here at Debenhams we believe that anyone can look fabulous in our range- which is why we’ve decided to break with Convention…
“Our Customers are not the same shape or size so our latest look book celebrates this diversity. We would be delighted if others followed our lead. Hopefully these shots will be a step, albeit a small one, towards more people feeing more comfortable about their boidies,’” said Ed Watson, Director of PR, Debenhams”
i decided this needed fixin.
there. much better
For those who don’t know, this image was fixed by changing the original all-white women, to include women of lots of different colors. Love love LOVE IT!! :D
My favorite part about this picture is that right now, the LGBT community is in the fighting stage.
We will win very soon!
“The Office of Human Rights transgender and gender identity non-discrimination campaign will appear throughout DC in Fall and Winter of 2012. The campaign will feature five transgender or gender non-conforming people in a series of five ads. The campaign aims to increase understanding of the community, reduce discriminatory incidents in DC and increase reporting of discrimination when it happens.”
just saw this on facebook https://www.facebook.com/DCOHR
The single best thing about coming out of the closet is that nobody can insult you by telling you what you’ve just told them- Rachel Maddow
YAY for lesbian representation in media.
BUT WHERE ARE THE DARK-SKINNED WOMEN? We have some Women of Color representation here, but they’re all very light-skinned. Homosexuality is found in all cultures and ethnicities, so let’s work on bringing more ethnic diversity to the media representation of LGBTQIA persons! :)
Oh my goodness I’ve been learning this over and over again recently. We’re all sinners. I’m not better than anyone else just because I don’t do certain things.
How can discrimination ever be the “best policy?”
I’m happily surprised that 4-H is cool with the gay!
the muppets ended their partnership with chik-fil-a over their blatant anti-gay remarks, and chik-fil-a is now lying about it. spread the word, yo.
also, keep supporting the muppets, those guys are amazing.
Fucking liars. That is some shady-ass shit right there.
as if you needed more proof that the muppets are awesome
Happily committed same-sex couples = sin
Lying and defamation = righteous
Good priorities there, guys.
“I don’t experience sexual attraction until forming a close emotional bond with someone” is not a slut shaming statement. “I don’t want to have casual sex” is not a slut shaming statement.
monogamy, asexuality, demisexuality, etc., are not the problem.
whatever people do or don’t choose to do in their private lives and whatever they feel or don’t feel towards other people, doesn’t fucking matter.
saying that “not only am I asexual, but everyone should be” or “I am demisexual and this is the orientation everyone should have because it’s always ethically best” are problematic, BUT I ALMOST NEVER SEE ANYONE SAY THIS.
What I see are the former statements, and them being interpreted in a way the latter should be. The point is personal choice and preference, identity and agency. People, for the most part, are not criticizing your sexual identity and/or behavior, but rather saying that theirs is different - to say that one has certain feelings (or a lack thereof) does not equal saying that those feelings are superior to the feelings of other people.
Like being gay is not a criticism of heterosexuality or heterosexual behavior, being asexual is not a criticism of sex or of sexual attraction. Like gay people who criticize heterosexuality (in attraction and behavior) there are asexual people who criticize sexual attraction and behavior, but the problem is not their orientation, nor their actions, but what they are saying about people who are more acknowledged and accepted and their anger is justified but misdirected.
Hillary clinton nails it. found this in my facebook feed today.
