Fire is a film by Deepa Mehta that was one of the first mainstream films in India to explicitly show homosexual relations. It stars Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. The film is about two characters, Radha and Sita, who are married and eventually fall in love with each other. Radha, the older woman, remains bound by tradition while Sita refuses to accept misfortune and wishes to break free. After being shunned by their husbands, Radha and Sita seek comfort in each other. Overjoyed at finding satisfaction in this unusual manner, they resolve to continue it in secret. They are eventually caught by Radha’s husband and she decides to move out and move in with Sita. This is an amazingly good movie.

This is NOT okay at
Here’s the number for the hospital that did it, flood it with phone calls. Reblog this and stuff, friends that have followers.
(732) 914-3800Please call.
Unleash Hell!
GO FREEDOM FIGHTERS GO
unleash hell, fuck yerrrr
No, ok. Let’s all take a deep breath. Obviously, this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. But…”unleash hell”?
Call the hospital, calmly state your opinion about the issue and perhaps how you think things should proceed, thank them for their time and then hang up. Do not attack, verbally or otherwise, these nurses and/or workers. It will not help our cause, and will only strengthen their resolve against us (LGBT persons and allies).
Let’s make a strong front against this discrimination, but we must remain civil while we do it, otherwise we’re just shooting ourselves in the foot.
[TW: HOMOPHOBIA, RAPE]
PLEASE, WE NEED TO MAKE MORE PEOPLE HEAR ABOUT THIS!
The recently crowned Miss Peru Universe 2012 Cindy Mejia made some rather scathing remarks about homosexuality in an interview for Peru 12 newspaper. She was asked the following question, “How would you react if your son were homosexual?”
Her response: “I don’t think that would happen to me because those things happen when the father is absent, when one is raped, and when one lives alone with mother and sisters. When I have kids, I will entrust them to God completely. They will have two parents and I will raise them properly.”Peru is a conservative country. Being gay here eisn’t easy, but this is not just offending us, the gay community, is also offending single mothers, mothers, women in general, men and raped people. This is the kind of people who should keep their mouth shut and definitely, do not try to represent a country in a beauty contest. She might have the looks, but definitely not the brains.
Please, I beg you to make this public. I beg you to not let this woman treats us this way. The peruvian LGBTQ community begs you to HELP US STOP HOMOPHOBIA!
please help make this public, this is disgusting.
If this doesn’t get thousands of notes I will lose faith in tumblr.
Got a problem with gay marriage? How about gay rights in general? Want to know what the Bible REALLY says about homosexuality? PLEASE reblog this soeveryone can be educated.

You SHOULD know this, because it is INCREDIBLY important and something that wasn’t acknowledged until very, VERY recently.
(I did a history project on this in Y9. We got to do something from the 20th century; everyone else did, like, Marilyn Monroe, and I read a translation of Moi, Pierre Seel, déporté homosexuel and then did my project on that. Cheerful, no, but important to know about, yes.)
whaaaaat, seriously?!
In 1950, East Germany abolished Nazi amendments to Paragraph 175, whereas West Germany kept them and even had them confirmed by its Constitutional Court.
Well, that’s horrifying.
Oh my god
Homosexual concentration camp prisoners were not acknowledged as victims of Nazi persecution.[7] Reparations and state pensions available to other groups were refused to gay men, who were still classified as criminals — the Nazi anti-gay law was not repealed until 1994, although both East and West Germany liberalized their criminallaws against adult homosexuality in the late 1960s.
“Gay Holocaust” survivors could be re-imprisoned for “repeat offences”, and were kept on the modern lists of “sex offenders”. Under the Allied Military Government of Germany, some homosexuals were forced to serve out their terms of imprisonment, regardless of the time spent in concentration camps. (X)
Also worth mentioning that homosexuals are still largely unacknowledged as victims of the Holocaust even within circles where they should know better. For example, in the Holocaust Museum in DC and Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, gay deaths are acknowledged only in passing and there is not a single picture of a “man of the pink triangle” - only of an empty ballroom that had once held a gay dance club. When Yad Vashem was completely redone in 2005, gay groups pressed for inclusion alongside other non-Jewish groups such as the disabled, Roma, etc., and numerous senior-level officials and the Rabbinate condemned such requests for inclusion, with some going so far as to suggest that the homosexuals were German criminals and therefore did not belong in the same category as the Jews who had done nothing wrong. When the memorial to gays in the Holocaust was unveiled in Berlin four years ago, senior members of Yad Vashem condemned it and, in particular, its proximity to the memorial for Jewish victims of the Shoah.
this planet shouldn’t be allowed to exist any longer
This is important. Of all the WWII history I learned in school, this was never once mentioned.
Oh my GOD.
And now my soul is bleeding.
Re-blogging again because when I was being taught the history of Nazi Germany, THIS WAS NEVER EVER EVER MENTIONED. NOT ONCE.
See, Jay? I’m not the only one who wasn’t taught it!
well fuck i’m glad my family emigrated.
it takes a WHOLE FUCKING LOT to surprise but i’m actually surprised.
surprised that the revelation of this kind of information and that the fight for inclusion in MEMORIALS as in LET’S REMEMBER THAT OUR PEOPLES DIED TOGETHER were written off or received any sort of backlash.
that’s fucked up.
I am surprised, too. I had no idea. Wiki article.
I am actually, sadly, not surprised by this. It wasn’t taught to me in School, but I knew about this before puberty, care of a very old movie that takes place during World War II, called “To Be or Not To Be” (Mel Brooks, 1983). There was actually a homosexual character in the movie, who was talking about how they were being forced to wear a pink triangle. Being a Mel Brooks movie, it’s a comedy, of course, but it’s still an excellent movie.
I am more surprised that they were not treated like victims after the fact for their imprisonment and instead were forced to serve out the rest of their sentence. It’s sickening.](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly5qfpM4lo1qkvbwso1_500.png)

“I don’t experience sexual attraction until forming a close emotional bond with someone” is not a slut shaming statement. “I don’t want to have casual sex” is not a slut shaming statement.
monogamy, asexuality, demisexuality, etc., are not the problem.
whatever people do or don’t choose to do in their private lives and whatever they feel or don’t feel towards other people, doesn’t fucking matter.
saying that “not only am I asexual, but everyone should be” or “I am demisexual and this is the orientation everyone should have because it’s always ethically best” are problematic, BUT I ALMOST NEVER SEE ANYONE SAY THIS.
What I see are the former statements, and them being interpreted in a way the latter should be. The point is personal choice and preference, identity and agency. People, for the most part, are not criticizing your sexual identity and/or behavior, but rather saying that theirs is different - to say that one has certain feelings (or a lack thereof) does not equal saying that those feelings are superior to the feelings of other people.
Like being gay is not a criticism of heterosexuality or heterosexual behavior, being asexual is not a criticism of sex or of sexual attraction. Like gay people who criticize heterosexuality (in attraction and behavior) there are asexual people who criticize sexual attraction and behavior, but the problem is not their orientation, nor their actions, but what they are saying about people who are more acknowledged and accepted and their anger is justified but misdirected.

Hillary clinton nails it. found this in my facebook feed today.
